Gli Mtv Vmas 2023 si sono svolti questa notte in diretta da Newark, New Jersey, e sono stati un’edizione come non se ne vedeva da tempo. Inaugurati nel 1984, i Video Music Awards della rete musicale americana hanno conosciuto negli anni i loro alti e bassi, ma la cerimonia andata in onda nelle scorse ore è stata animata da una parata di stelle e da momenti decisamente sorprendenti. A dominare, tra gli altri, sono stati anche i Måneskin, che hanno trionfato nuovamente nella categoria Best Rock e che si sono esibiti con il loro ultimo singolo, Honey (Are U Coming?). Tra gli altri performer della serata anche Nicki Minaj (che ha presentato anche l’evento), la rivelazione Olivia Rodrigo, Demi Lovato, Fall Out Boy e molti altri. La serata è stata conclusa poi da un super gruppo formato da DMC, Doug E. Fresh, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Lil Wayne, LL Cool J e Nicki Minaj per celebrare i 50 anni dalla nascita dell’hip hop.
Diddy (precedentemente noto come P. Diddy e ancor prima come Puff Daddy) si è esibito in un medley dei suoi successi prima di ritirare il Global Icon Award, mentre all’artista colombiana Shakira è andato il Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. Ma a dominare la serata è stata, senza dubbio, Taylor Swift che si è aggiudicata ben nove premi: Video of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop, Best Direction, Best Cinematography e Best Visual Effects per il suo video Anti-Hero, e ancora Album of the Year per Midnights, e infine Artist of the Year e Show of the Summer per il suo The Eras Tour. È la prima artista ad aver vinto il prestigioso Video of the Year per due anni di seguito.
